The history of censorship surrounding the famous play written by I.L. Caragiale.
A bittersweet comedy about censorship and freedom, inspired by real events — told through five scenes, three monologues, an epilogue, and a prologue.
It’s the story of a comic farce that has always been considered a “problematic text.”
The narrative takes us through five different eras:


1885 – The National Theatre of Bucharest, at the time of the premiere.


1917 – The National Theatre of Iași, during the war.


1940 – The Legionary Theatre, under the Legionary government.


1981 – The Headquarters of the Censorship Committee.


Today – An imagined present.
